Day 17: Big Bang Theory
I had enough people tell me this show was great for me to check it out, but it was terrible! It was the sort of embarrassment humor where ALL the situations could have been avoided if they had just told the truth, or didn't try to hide something crucial, or some other stupid manufactured 'problem' scenario that just. isn't. funny. On top of that, the constant laugh track telling the audience when to laugh is pretty awful. I gave this show nearly a full season too, but it was just terrible.
It's D&D day today! Not gonna lie, my players were clever last game and talked (well, a great deception roll) their way past a weeping treant guardian who did NOT want any fighting in his protected forest. Now that they are in the forest, the first fight that breaks out is going to be not only whatever that fight is, but soon after fighting the treants - since they promised they wouldn't disturb the forest. I really hope it isn't going to be a TPK, but the party is level 10 and they'd be fighting the whole clan of treants, not just one... it's not looking good for them 🥶 Should I start the session by asking them to start thinking of alternative characters for the campaign? 😅
Day 16: Rick & Morty - Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty (aka the one where Morty gets a dragon)
So I LOVE Rick & Morty. I think the show is damned brilliant, and layered with all kinds of really smart humor and fun references. I really love how the 'red herrings' turn out to not be that at all, but important story pieces later on in the show.
This episode is no different, and while I enjoyed and appreciated the episode, there was *one* part where the writers lowered themselves to the level of that family guy joke that's carried on wayyyyyyy too long to be funny anymore. The part where the wizard whips the dragon while repeatedly calling it a slut felt out of line for the type of humor Rick & Morty otherwise present.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing wrong with the dragon being a slut or being called a slut. It isn't a trigger for me or anything, and I don't see anything wrong with it. The part that bothered me was that it went on too long to be funny, for me at least.
So the episode brings the usual twisted and fucked up humor I expect and love from R&M but that one part that was out of place is what landed this episode as my least favorite. But that is not saying it was a disliked episode!
Day 15: The Prisoner
This was a surprisingly great show. Very intellectual. It is very slow, by modern standards, but it's creativity, great acting, and mildly psychedelic/mind-trip nature were quite compelling. Great cultural education if you haven't seen it!
Day 14: Ross from Friends
I don't know what the hype was about. I didn't find him funny, I just found him to be a bad person (well, all of the friends were) and super tragic.
So I have a cold or something and I didn't get to play D&D yesterday because I was feeling WAY too icky, but I did get to eat ice cream to help my sore throat, so that's nice! Happy Caturday! 😻
Day 12: The Robot Devil, Futurama
Man this character was brilliant! So witty and charming and hilarious! I know a lot of people think of the Simpsons as Matt Groening's masterpiece, but it's really Futurama. Futurama is like the Simpsons but for adults. Not that it's got 'adult' content in it, but it's just smarter humor, I've found, at least.
It's Friday! Hooray! I *possibly* have D&D today but I haven't heard back from my players so I'll know better once I wake up if they have replied. I have a lot of prep to do before we play (if we play) so my 'morning' will be pretty busy!

Day 11: Lexa, The 100
Upon re-watching this show a couple of times, I realize that she wasn't as strong a leader as I initially thought she was, but there was just something about her that I really loved. I wish there was more Lexa screen time in the show, but I also think they did the character justice by the end of the series.
Day 9: Sailor Moon
I loved this damn show! It was on tv right when I got home from school so I got to watch it most days. I had no idea that it wasn't originally in English until much later on! I have watched all of it though, Sailor Saturn is my favorite!
Day 8: When Clarke and Lexa finally kiss on The 100.
This was almost my guilty pleasure show, but fuck that, I have no shame in liking this show! Yes, it's a YA fiction, but... it was filled with passion and creativity and I really liked it. Watching the tension build up between Clarke and Lexa was great and when they finally kissed... Yes! It was great!
Side note: I am going to cosplay as Lexa at some point :)
So I managed to play D&D yesterday for a few hours. I had to sit on a pillow in order to be able to sit up for it at all, but I did it!! Man, I was SO drained after that, I'm sure I'll be sleeping in quite a bit today, but it was good to have a game day and a good distraction!
So I found this pic from a face paint I did a while back, where I was unzipping my human face to reveal the devil underneath, and I thought it turned out pretty cool! I really do love face & body painting, I will be doing that again soon! We have a Shiklah to create!!
Day 7: Buffy The Vampire Slayer "Once More with Feeling" (aka The musical episode)
I have seen this episode a fair number of times, I don't think I could count! It's super fun and quotable. C'mon, how many times has someone said "I have a theory..." and you just HAD to follow up with "It could be bunnies!"

What's your episode that you've watched more than 5 times?
I'm hanging in there. I really let myself feel low this weekend, and really felt sorry for myself for the trauma I'm experiencing with this seemingly never-ending illness, but I'm done with that. Or I want to be, at least. It's getting me no where, and it isn't helping anything! I want to start doing some little streams, even if it's just to play Animal Crossing or some such, so first priority this week for me is to get some appointments set with doctors, second is to set up and start streams again. Yay!
Day 6: America's Next Top Model
Ok, I will admit, this show is pure trash. Whiny drama queens and all that, but I got hooked early on! After about the 5th or 6th cycle, I'd skip through it and just watch the challenges and then find out who got eliminated, bypassing all the house-drama because man! That shit was petty AF! ! The challenges were fun though, and I like the creativity of them, but yeah, this definitely has to be classified as guilty pleasure.

Not so great health news... I'm back to being bedridden, so there's that. Keep yer fingers crossed for me. I will be doing my best to find a specialist this week if I can afford it. I might need to do a fundraiser here, but I'll keep you posted. Right now I'm just doing my best to take it easy and rest. <3 <3
Day 5: The Queen's Gambit
This kept popping up enough, that I was aware of it, and I was looking for something new to watch so I thought heck, let's give it a try. I know how to play chess, but it's not my favorite game and I couldn't imagine getting into a show about chess. Snooze-fest, right?
Wrong! I really enjoyed this one and ended up watching the whole series over a weekend because it was so compelling and interesting and I needed to know how it played out!
Well, it's Friday! Why does it feel like 2 steps forward and 5 steps back? I'm gonna keep moving forward, but man, I'm frustrated. Ok, got that out, now I'm ready for a happy and productive day! <3 Do you have plans for the weekend?
Day 4: Counterpart
This show was good and SUPER intriguing. Very creative, but man, it was hard to follow! Starring J.K.Simmons, as Howard Silk, it's actually an intentionally confusing story given the 'divided' circumstances (that's all I'll say so as to not spoil anything), but that aside - I have face blindness, and the cast all tend to wear clothing comprised of drab browns and greys, and all the men seem to look the same to me - so as far as following the story and knowing who's who... I have it set to hard mode! Still a great show though, I did very much enjoy it!

Day 3: Rick and Morty
Oh my god, this show is SO GOOD! It's so smart, and so creative, and is filled with so many subtle (and not so subtle) references and homages, it's just chock-full of greatness. If you don't get the hype over R&M, then I suggest you take a look at it knowing that literally NONE of the characters are good people, nor likable, and they aren't supposed to be. It's fucking brilliant. 10/10
