Gooooood morning! You know me, I'm always trying to find some gems to play! I have found a game developed by a Canadian studio that is INSANELY fun to play! And yes, I was able to make it work with my arcade sticks and buttons!!! It's literally a 2022 beat'em on an arcade - sick!
Dawn of the Monsters is a beat'em up video game developed by 13AM Games and released in 2022.
The game begins in 2036, when enormous monsters known as the Nephilim invade Earth and cause massive destruction around the globe. Three decades later, humanity establishes the Defense Alliance Worldwide Network (DAWN), and recruits the help of four different guardian creatures (Megadon, Ganira, Aegis Prime, and Tempest Galahad) in an attempt to retake the planet from these beasts.
The game's artstyle was inspired by comic books. It was designed to be "striking" and "evocative" of imagery from kaiju movie posters. Director Alex Rushdy described the art style as a mashup of Japanese manga and the works of Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy. To ensure that the team had a consistent vision of the game's tone, Rushdy organised movie nights in which the team would watch movies such as Godzilla (1954) and Gamera. The team also invited numerous artists to collaborate on the game. Shinji Nishikawa, who was involved in the design of several Godzilla films, helped the team design a boss character, while Yuji Kaida, who served as an illustrator on multiple kaiju projects, designed the cover for the game's physical edition.
If you're looking for the game, you can play it on Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia !
GAME ON!
Some of my latest artistic projects for the arcade. Needed to have some great marquees for those stellar games that were on Naomi back in the days (Marvel vs Capcom 2 - it REALLY took me a while for that one lol)
A few facts on Naomi:
- Owned by Sega
- Released in 1998 at one-third the price of the Model 3
- Shared architecture with Dreamcast, but with additional main, graphics and sound memory (32, 16 and 8 megabytes respectively)
- NAOMI is a backronym for New Arcade Operation Machine Idea. The name NAOMI was reportedly selected by Sega R&D head Hisashi Suzuki in honor of the British model Naomi Campbell.
Have you ever played any of those 4 games? Comment your experiences! Don't be shy to share...I love it when people comment on my posts :)
Based on my post from this morning, this mod seems to be based on the PS3 version. I will need to find a way to make it work with the joysticks on my arcade. I only have 6 buttons, so hopefully it's fairly easy and doesn't use too many of them! I'll keep you all posted!!!
And...seems to be quite a few NBA Jam fans out there! As you know, I am a total nerd when it comes to retro gaming, so here are some facts that maybe you didnt know...and that are quite interesting/surprising!
- In 2008, Turmell confirmed a long-held suspicion that the game had a bias against the Chicago Bulls. According to Turmell, a Detroit Pistons fan, the game was programmed such that the Bulls would miss last-second shots in close games against the Pistons.
- During development, Godzilla and Bart Simpson were planned to be secret characters, but were ultimately scrapped.
- The game is filled with Easter eggs, special features, and players activated by initials or button/joystick combinations. For example, pressing A five times and right five times on any Genesis controller will activate "Super Clean Floors". This feature causes characters to fall if they run too fast or change direction too quickly. Players can also enter special codes to unlock hidden players, ranging from US President Bill Clinton to Hugo, the Charlotte Hornets mascot. On the arcade machine, there is also a hidden "tank" game that allows the player to drive a tank and shoot enemy tanks for a minute. Just before the court is shown at the start of a game, joysticks 1 and 2 must be moved down and all six of their buttons held down.
- Midway did not secure the license to use Michael Jordan's name or likeness. Another notable absence from the home versions is Shaquille O'Neal, who was in the arcade version as a member of the Orlando Magic. However, a limited edition version of the game with an additional team composed of Gary Payton and Michael Jordan was developed primarily for Jordan and Payton's personal use.
- The test version of NBA Jam: Tournament Edition included eight hidden characters which were taken out of the final version at the request of the NBA: Elviscious, Grim Reaper, Kongo, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Tim Coman.
- NBA Jam also incorporates a slogan from Spike Lee's alter-ego in his 1986 film She's Gotta Have It, Mars Blackmon, who was also featured in a Nike basketball shoe television commercial at the time. The NBA Jam commentator asks, "Is it the shoes?" after a player performs spectacularly
Remember when I was talking about Popeye these last few days? I just saw that ad. What the FUCK was that? You'd call and get a story for 2 bucks and then 45 cents per minute? It seems super expensive for the 80s (it was from 1989) and....it's like an erotic line but with cartoons adventures instead? Any of you ever used this in the 80s or 90s? I need info on this!!! lol
Did you once enjoy NBA Jam just as much as I did? Or maybe you never wanted to play with an older roster that you don't know much about... And did you know that Michael Jordan was NEVER in those games? Well, there is now a SICK MOD out there that solves so many issues of the past! OMFG, the mod I never knew I needed but now I want it badly! I will have to try to install this over the weekend. It looks AMAZING from the few reviews I've read and the video!
Did you play and enjoy NBA Jam in the past?
Yesterday, on my main fans platform, I posted one of the funniest Orange Juice ad that I had ever seen. Sadly, I can't post it here due to OF having all bunch of BS rules! Still, we can't talk about it and I can show you a few other things. This ad was featuring Popeye!
Since I got so many positive comments about yesterday's video, I decided to share a bit more on the strange history of this mythic cartoon character! I love cartoons. I love gaming. I love sharing :) Don't worry I'll have some naughty stuff for you later as well ;)
One strange thing worth noting: Initially, it wasn’t spinach that gave Popeye his superpowers but instead Bernice the Whiffle Hen. In a June 1929 series, rubbing her head made Popeye invulnerable to bullets, although it’s not explained how or why.
Eventually, Bernice was phased out and by 1931, spinach became Popeye’s secret weapon, his anti-Kryptonite.
Would you consider yourself as someone who has good memories/throwback/emotions when you see a Popeye cartoon? Or you're indifferent?
You know how hard it is sometimes to find a caption based on the pictures? LOL so this is an orange outfit, let's talk about orange juice.
True or false? I have OJ every morning with breakfast.
Atari bought some old IPs / arcade games from the 80s (made by Stern). Plenty of spinner games (and I don't have a spinner so let's forget about it) but a few twin stick games that I had never heard from before! What are they going to do with those? Do a recharged series with these new games? It's going to be interesting. They definitely didn't buy this just for fun! Oh and since I havent tried the games yet...here are some non related pictures for your own pleasure :)
This music will get stuck in your head for the rest of the day! lol and I was wrong, it was from 1985 (not 1980). Some quick game play....not as easy as it seems! Those freaking seeds!
Road Runner! Ever played that game? I had never tried it until today! It's an old Atari arcade game from 1980. A 1 button game...they don't do those anymore! It wasn't that hard, uh? Just smash that damn button and play with that joystick LOL!
Now, I need help on the marquee decision...which one should I pick? The original (smaller graphic in the middle) or the newer version (same logo but bigger and different image)?
Doesn't @brookewoods look sooo cute and innocent in this? Don't let it fool you, she might be the sweetest girl I've ever met, but she is a freak in the sheets, I've experienced it firsthand! ⚠️🖤😜 And I know she would take really good care of you daddy! Head over to her page now you will not regret it!!
Entire weekend really ended up being a shit show. BUT it's the beginning of a new week....so positive vibes only? :) Well I am spending my morning at the hospital for a battery of tests, so I guess it could have started better LOL! Send me good vibes <3
When Mario humps Dig Dug in the 80s...you get a Mario Bros/Dig Dug on Steroids in 2023 !
Kinda like Mario Bros, but with guns and explosions. And you can dig, too. It's a roguelike, like most other indie games out there, so if you die you can start over again. And that's not even the best part: you can get super powerful and combo-kick a lot of ass.
Thought it was an interesting retro/modern game! What are your thoughts? Think you'd try it? I might have to!
Story a friend of mine told me last night:
Me and my boyfriend had sex last morning. He kept talking about how dirty it was that he was in my bum and what a dirty girl I was because of this. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that he was in my vagina, and couldn’t understand how he could confuse the two!
LOL like...what? Guys could you really confuse being in a vagina or the butt?
Did you know that before being Diddy Kong Racing, this game was called Pro-Am 64? LOL it was intended to be part of the Pro-Am series. And Nintendo said "You guys are morons, let's brand it to Diddy Kong". Rare studios were furious but ended up accepting. Okay, Nintendo might not have said "morons" but this is how it went in my head. And thank god it did, because Pro Am 64 with a random tiger? Hell...I wouldn't have played this game EVER back then lol
The game was originally a real-time strategy game themed on cavemen and time travelling. Eventually it became a racing game instead called Wild Cartoon Kingdom, based on a theme park and attractions. After this, it became Adventure Racers; intended as a sequel to the game R.C. Pro Am on NES and then finally named Pro-Am 64.
Pro-Am 64 originally featured a different main character before Shigeru Miyamoto suggested to change it, so Rare decided Diddy Kong. This character was known as Timber the Tiger, who would appear in Diddy Kong Racing, but not as the main character.
It's not even 5 AM, and my mind is blown away by all of this haha!
Wishing you all a beautiful day! Going to post something a tad more sexy later today <3 ;)
