

Someone asked me how I unwind when I’m feeling stressed, and I wrote a response that I thought might be helpful to some people, so I’m posting it here as well 💕 Some things I do to relax: - turn the lights low in my apartment, put on an uplifting audiobook or podcast, light a candle/incense and clean/tidy my space - yoga (I do a lot of home yoga from the YouTube channel Yoga With Adriene. She’s so comforting and she has a lot of good videos for beginners, and her dog Benji is in a lot of the videos and he’s very good.) - take a shower or bath in the dark (with candles) - read a book in bed with a cup of tea - go for a walk - journal at a cafe - take my time cooking myself something kind of elaborate and healthy, listen to good music or a podcast while cooking and don’t rush about it, and then eat the meal mindfully and savor it! I think the most important thing about ACTUAL self-care vs. escapism is doing things that are good and healthy for myself (body and mind) that make me feel like I love myself. When I feel love from myself toward myself, it gives me a sense of control and safety that’s very calming and good for my inner peace. I hope you’re able to do that for yourself, you deserve it 🤗
