Here are a few random video clips from my phone taken this month that made me chuckle. I’m enjoying homemade matcha on the porch in the jungle (weak), an orange espresso I finally had the guts to try in Thailand, I found matcha at the airport Starbucks (sugary), I made thick creamy matcha with almond and jasmine rice milk at the Hilltop resort (the final video). why do I make such a big deal about drinks? Probably started with me growing up in an English-Seattle family so half of us were drinking endless cups of tea and the other half was hooked on coffee at every corner. Beverages are linked closely to ritual. When I incorporate ritual into my life, into my art process, into my fitness routines… it goes more smoothly and the rewards are a deeper richer connection to life. If I’m about to paint, make music or practice yoga, the beverage in my hand is an important part of the process. How do you relate to this? Some of you share details of your drinks with me. Some of you follow my lead and try the drinks I’m currently into. Please share with us in the comments, what are you beverages? What are the rituals? Why do they matter to you? What do they mean to you? Who are you without them? Where did you pick them up? What would you like the rest of us to try? Do your beverages change throughout the year? Why do I make posts like this? Because this is the nitty gritty daily life that feeds into the artwork you enjoy from me and the artwork you are inspired to create. There is power in recognizing and acknowledging the tiny details of our daily lives. With awareness with can evolve on purpose. Cheers, Cha PS: I’m the holiday season my mom is always brewing a European hot drink called wassail. I’m not a big fan but I take tiny sips of respect for my ancestors. What’s your family drinking together?
