Sometimes I buy rainbow clothes, bikinis, shiny earrings and sarongs. The purchases are intentional, deeply infused with gratitude and appreciation, carried home with a bounce in my step, and used right away in my new projects and videos. Almost of the time the purchases are smaller and they’ll soon be used up because clothing can wear away, paint is squeezed until empty and earrings run away and hide, silly little creatures they are. Every now and then, quite rarely in fact, the purchase is large. It’s a big drop of money, a commitment of sorts, the beginning of a deeper more spiritual relationship. Welcoming a guitar into my life is not dissimilar to bringing home a cat or dog. It has personality. It offers companionship. It’s awkward as hell to transport around. It plays its way deep into the love of the heart and if lost is grieved forever… I know from experience. The guitar I bought in Krabi was a quick friend on the road. This Taylor from Phuket is whispering in my ear that we may be friends for a long long time. We’re already creating lovely art together, sleeping in the same bed every night and crossing political borders hand in neck. Thank you all for your constant support, generosity for the little gifts and the big ones. I hope the songs I write with this guitar being beauty and understanding into your life. You helped make this new friendship happen. This guitar has a new home.
