New costume ❤ progress day 1

1. First thing I did was cover that tacky pair of underwear that comes with corsets on Amazon 🤣 im trying to make this fast so I took short cuts like this instead of making my own from scratch. Shiny crotch! This fabric was gold at one point. I decided I wanted to dye it red so I did and it was BEAUTIFUL! Never could decide what to do with it until now! Glad I saved that piece for like 4 years 🤣

2. I ordered a wine red underbust corset from Amazon. I've tried twice to make my own corsets and both ended badly! If you put the boning in the wrong place, it really hurts! So again for time and money, it was easier to buy this one. Plus the satin on the corset matched the satin of the bra and panties fabric. I bought two different kinds of trim to decorate the corset. I decided I didn't want a pattern but keep it simple because this costume will be very busy. Im still trying to keep it into the "victorian" era instead of just straight comic book. I also bought a 3rd gold trim. I thought it would look good somehow but couldn't decide where to use it. I thought at the bottom of the corset would look good to be similar to how the costume had a sash around there. Oh also I cut off the little tasstles on the red trim I used. It would have been really weird hanging vertically like the boning.

3. I covered the bra with the same satin dyed fabric. This fabric was my total inspiration for making this costume. I loved it when I accidentally colored it and the way the golds pop is now! Unfortunately I didn't even have 1 yard of it so I had to use it really sparingly. Covering a bra is usually pretty time consuming if youre really trying to get it really smooth. I use a million pins and spend a long time doing this part. Usually the cup looks nice but the sides look 😝 I definitely wing this part and im sure there's an actual professional way to do this. But I think it turned out great anyways!

4. I have made a classic dark phoenix symbol and then have this giant gold necklace i originally bought last year for this idea. I can't decide which one I like better so im still on the fence. I also bought a black lace choker from Amazon. It matches her costumes but I think the black at the neck just really stands out but not overwhelming. I also bought a choker with red gems but I think I like the straight black better

5. I am undecided what to do with the gloves and boots. I designed a pair of boots in my head but they don't exist 🤣 i made this legging when I was originally just going to make the classic costume but never did because I messed it up. I dont know if I like the metallic gold but it's what I got and I dont know if I have another solution ! Wish I could make my own leather and lace, lace up, thigh high boots in the next week 🤣

So that's where I got in about 4 hours! Gonna try and get some more done tonight ❤
