I tried to give my mom a really lovely vacation since she hadn't had one for so long. To be honest, I'm not even sure if you can count the handful of vacations that she took me on when I was younger, as proper vacations that she actually enjoyed.
A few times she took me to the Las Vegas strip to walk around in July lol. Another time, she took me to Sea World, but I was definitely the oldest person there with my mom 💀
On the way to SeaWorld, I remember driving by the ocean, and at this point, I'd never been to the ocean, so I begged her if we could stop by the beach, and she promptly said no, hahaha. My mom doesn't really know how to vacation.
So I tried my best to give her a good experience. My mom never took us to restaurants when I was younger, except on VERY rare occasions we went to McDonald's or Panda Express, so when she was here, I took her to a restaurant nearly every day :D.
My mom tried French, German, and Italian food for the first time (German was her favorite 😏!) She also had her first brunch ever! I also accidentally got her inebriated off of one glass of mulled wine, which, surprise, was also her first time being inebriated hahaha. I also learned that she has only tried coffee once in her life, and it was instant powdered coffee and it ended up giving her the jitters🥲. I couldn't convince her to drink any coffee during this visit though. Maybe next time I see her!
What I thought was absolutely hilarious, was at one point she asked me why my boobs were small. She's always been critical of my looks (I think this is a very Asian thing,) so I tried to look my best every day, but one day, I wore a tighter shirt, and she instantly knew right where to hit me in the feels. Why are Asian parents so good at this? 🥲
All in all, it felt really good to be able to be the one to take care of mom, treat her, and show her new life experiences. It gives me so much joy watching people eat delicious, new food for the first time, and we got to do that a lot!
