"Cinco de Mayo" is a Spanish phrase that translates to "Fifth of May" in English. It refers to the date of May 5th and is celebrated primarily in Mexico and the United States. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's victory over the French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is often mistakenly associated with Mexican Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16th. However, Cinco de Mayo has become a cultural celebration in both Mexico and the United States, featuring parades, music, dancing, food, and festivities that showcase Mexican heritage and culture. I know many of you are celebrating today and I’d love to spice that up a bit for you. I’ll be posting frequently throughout today. Call it a virtual influx of spice throughout your day!
