Added 2022-06-13 17:02:44 +0000 UTCA little history on bed jackets this morning: Sheer, lace and frilly bed jackets were popularized in 1930s in men’s playboy films (from where Playboy gets its namesake) where starlets of the films would don them in the evening over lingerie. They were used to allure, and create subtle mystery about what’s underneath (and less about warmth). By the 1940s & 50s they rose in popularity with women, and became an expected part of their sleepwear for a woman of stature. It was also customary to gift one when a woman was admitted to the hospital for illness or to give birth. These ones are from the 1950s. We had more in other colors and designs but they sold before I had a chance to try them on!
