A 1940s/50s Miriam Haskell beaded wooden necklace. Haskell was a jewelry designer active in NYC from the 1920s to the 1960s, well known for the jewelry all being handmade and hand wired, comparable to embroidery. Her pieces were beloved by many in old Hollywood. During World War 2, Haskell (like many) was asked to limit the use of metals in her designs and instead began introducing wooden designs like the one I’m wearing. Her pieces typically sell for a few hundred dollars. Midcentury Miriam Haskell necklace ($175)
