In Brazil on june we celebrate the traditional "festas juninas" (literally "june's parties"). This celebration is even bigger than "Carnaval", because it happens all over brazilian territory. Of course every region has its particularities, but the shirt with squares and the straw hat are mandatories.
This used to be a celebration to a Christian saint called "São João" (Saint John), but we took it for us and nowadays is a party to celebrate love, like is Thanksgiving for the People of United States of America.
