I ruined official Noche Buena celebrations by confronting my mother for her gatekeeping on my birth time. However, I didn’t feel too bad because my family is mourning the anniversary of the loss of my grandfather. No one was really in a celebratory mood. My grandpa‘s favorite thing to do was watch his family have fun during the holidays. It’s a shame that we feel compelled to do the opposite. I still had fun with my daughter and friends though!
