A short story about perspective:
Once there was a poor boy who wanted a horse, but his family was too poor to afford one.
He is walking in a field one day when something amazing happens. He comes across a magnificent wild horse. Against all odds the horse allows the boy to approach and mount it.
Word spreads through the boy’s village about good incredible luck. The people say, “What great luck that the boy found this horse!”
But the wise old man of the village simply says, “We’ll see.”
A few weeks later the boy is riding the horse and falls. He survives but breaks his leg in the accident. Unfortunately, the annual harvest is only two weeks away. Now the boy will be unable to help his family with the crops.
Around the village people are heard saying, “it was very bad luck when the boy found that horse. Because of that horse he broke his leg and his family will suffer.”
But the wise old man of the village simply says, “We’ll see.”
Around the time of harvest a dispute breaks out with a neighboring village. Tensions escalate into violence. Every healthy male goes off to battle, but the boy is förced to stay home because of his broken leg.
In the ensuing battle, the boy’s village is defeated and many men lose their lives.
Around the village the women are heard saying to each other, “It was so fortunate that the boy found that horse and broke his leg. Now he is still alive when so many have died.”
But the wise old man of the village simply says, “We’ll see.”
The stories we tell... I love this short story it really makes you think about perspectives. Just like I took these photos in a few different perspectives. We can also look at life in many perspectives that can empower or disempower us.
Currently camping sitting in a caravan. Just thought I would say hi as I type this post.
Life is all about perspectives, what we see, what the world sees and what others see.
Truth is nobody really knows our story and our story is only subjective to the thoughts we tell and say. The greatest super power humans have is that they can change their life at any time, all by the stories they tell themselves and words they use.
My life has never been easy. Like so many of you I dream of more possibilities, more time for myself or more ways I could do things. I dream of people being kinder, seeing me more, less judgement and more support. One of my biggest dreams is a vacation where I do not work. The last two weeks have been great but I am working most days on holidays 2-3 hrs a day. I get up early to do it and I get up even earlier to do my training before everyone wakes. I do not remember the last time I slept past 6. 630am.
I dream of having enough money so I could buy a home, I could fly more often to mum and dad in Australia and I could make sure my future I did not have to worry about. However, all I can do for now is work hard and live life in the moment as that is the only place I can possibly change those dreams in reality.
Social media tends to make us think everyone else has it easier. The reality is social media is a good place to curate life and show parts of our lives. Then as we watch others we think the grass is greener. Like why does everyone else have more fun, go on more holidays, their partnerships or families look happy etc. It is only green because we do not see them water their grass. The watering is the hard part and we never see each other do the watering of our own grass. In fact the watering is often why we are not successful at goals others are successful at. But it is easy to say their grass is greener then accept responsibility we could do more to make it happen. Do not get me wrong some people do get some blessings we do not have but some also get less blessings then us and do more then we do.
So between the watering the grass and the grass looking green are stories told by us all about ourselves and others. We all could technically have over 8 billion stories told about us if everyone saw our lives and wished to tell one and none two alike. But the most important story is the one we tell and create.
Are you empowering yourself or disempowering yourself through the stories you tell yourself? Life is all about perspective!!!!
