I’ve never had such a messy move before. I suppose because it’s *actually quite organized* instead of the reckless tossing all thing into vaguely marked boxes for a move across town, like a normal person! Paring down 1/2 of my belongings from a 3 bedroom home is a task. 😅 Why do I have so many things? Why have I invested in real quality designer and heirloom furnishings but refused to part with that janky ass can opener?? The one piece of delight in my house currently is the packing station I set up, my OCD loves a good orderly corner. 500ft roll of brown packing paper on a cutting reel, industrial sized roll of bubble wrap, inventory lists of what’s in my boxes, color coded stickers and markers and tape guns. The messy mayhem part is the stacks and stacks and piles upstairs/downstairs/garage: what gets sold, what gets donated, what gets packed away for 3 months, what gets packed away for 6+ months, and then what goes with me in 2 weeks time - and having to live on of those expertly packed suitcases for a couple months? It’s chaos I tell ya. After breakfast I’m dropping off some donations to a women’s shelter, ordering another humongous roll of bubble wrap, and this afternoon renting a truck to go to Home Depot to buy supplies to build a wood shipping crate for my 8’x5’ floor mirror. I’ve never build a structurally sound shipping crate before, I’d prefer to throw money at it and have a “shipping crate company” build one for me but a crate the size I need will cost well over a grand! 😤 I’ll build it myself and save a couple hundred bucks. Gonna need to Bob Vila this thang 🧐 I believe I will need: 1/4 inch under layment boards, 1x4 flat boards cut to length, wood glue, a couple hundred wafer screws, insulation foam board, metal mending plates and a single can of red spray paint to stencil “F R A G I L E - THIS SIDE UP”. Intellectually I understand what needs to happen, but in practice I have little idea what I’m doing 🙃
