Months in the making, I got to sit down with HIV Specialist Kyle to go over many of the sex health-related questions YOU submitted! Thank you to those who submitted questions, and thank you Kyle for your time and expertise. Episode 2 will be posted in the coming days. (Apologies for the shifting white balance in this video; I'm still learning this camera.) --- FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, here is a timestamp breakdown of the questions: 00:44 – MARK: When taking PrEP, what are the dangers/risks of barebacking? 02:25 – JORIS: In what specific ways does PrEP prevent HIV? How does it actually prevent it? 04:15 – ANONYMOUS: Am I protected against HIV if I begin taking PrEP on the day I have sex? How many days in a row do I have to take PrEP before it becomes effective? When is it “safe” to stop taking PrEP? Is there any downtime in protection, or other things to note, when switching between PrEP brands? 08:45 – REV: There's a law in Florida where you can get PrEP for free. How does that work? Why does it vary between states? 10:25 – ANONYMOUS: What STIs can you get from rimming, and how high is the risk? 13:00 – JASON: I have severe asthma, high pressure, and am overweight. Do you have any suggestions for reducing my COVID risk when having anonymous sex outside and also in bathrooms? 18:10 – COOLGUY: Several decades ago I had surgery to treat anal fistulas. My surgeon said that anal sex might cause them to open up again, but that was a long time ago. I’ve wanted to get back into anal, but I still have trouble relaxing. Do you have any suggestions for returning to anal sex after major anal fistula surgery? 20:35 – CUBBINGTONS: I sometimes get a weird uncomfortable ache in my ass after douching or after receiving anal sex. I wouldn’t call it pain, just discomfort. This ache lasts for 2 to 3 hours and then disappears. What confuses me is that it only happens sometimes, with no clear reason why. I don’t think it’s STI-related. What do you think is going on here and is there a way to prevent it? 25:10 – SUPER MUTANT: There are communities and even some spiritual practices that claim that withholding orgasm, especially for men, can increase testosterone, increase productivity, and help prevent depression. I know of bodybuilders and athletes who also abstain from sex, saying it helps their performance. Do you know anything about this and is there any truth to it? --- sex health with kyle questions and answers #education #educational #podcast
