taking the ship steering thing very seriously... these photo..

taking the ship steering thing very seriously... these photos are very funny considering just days later the boat started sinking... it wasn't my fault though! We had a crazy adventure on the lake. The first day was great, we had lots of fun in the sun and water. However, that night while we were tied up on the beach for the night a really intense storm broke out. In literally minutes we went from admiring the lightning in the far distance to the boat being rocked like crazy. An unmanned speedboat that got loose also smashed into the side of us and we ended up turning sideways along the shore, so the waves were crashing us into the rocks and seriously tilting the boat. The cabinets started flying open but luckily we all sprang to action to keep them shut and prevent furniture from moving around dangerously. For about 3 hours straight we were in crisis mode, all the dishes were slamming around in the cabinets (seriously, who puts glass dishes on a houseboat??!?) and I was getting extremely stressed and seasick. We radioed for help but the storm was affecting a lot of boats and we were pretty far from where the base was so no one was able to come to us. Eventually it settled down enough for me to fall asleep and I didn't throw up (yay!). The next morning someone from the company came to assess the damage to our boat, and found that the pontoons on one side were damaged and taking on water. However they insisted it was okay to continue boating and that we wouldn't sink (lol). They also told us that on a scale of one to ten, that storm was a 9!!! We had a few more days on the boat, and besides becoming gradually more tilted to the side, everything was fine. Other boaters kept commenting on our damaged boat though haha. By the second last day however, the tilt became much worse and we actually started sinking!!!! The front right side was taking on water like crazy but we luckily were able to make it to shore!! Another boat came to rescue us and then someone towed our boat back to the docks so we could collect our things. All in all I enjoyed the trip despite it being cut short, and I would love to try house boating again (but maybe not during storm season). :D
