Added 2023-01-19 18:24:47 +0000 UTCDay 5 Lava Tunnel and Specialty Iceland Foods! Did a private excursion to a Lava tunnel. It was about a mile long each way of climbing and hiking. It was incredible. I had to wear a headlamp otherwise it was total darkness. Before this was operated by professionals a group of women had to be rescued here as it is dangerous. For a farewell dinner I was able to indulge in some unique Iceland dishes. Had whale two ways (Sushi and Roasted). Definitely enjoyed the sushi style more. The roasted whale reminded me of roast beef. Tried smoked puffin and an amazing wild sea bird which I want to go back to have again. As an extra bonus the Northern Lights showed up just when I got back to the hotel!
