The next few blog posts are inspired from a podcast I listen to most every day— The Bridge with Peter Mansbridge. You were expecting a sex or sex work podcast, I bet. While I occasionally listen to those kinds of podcasts my regular listening tends to be on current events, beauty, meditation, organization, and wellness. One neat thing I find about listening to what I listen to is taking the topics and themes outside of the field of sex and applying them to my life’s work. In the case of this miniseries of blogs I was inspired by the episode from January 4th, 2021 titled Truth And Trust -- And How Compliance To The Rules Suffers When We Don't See Them In Our Rule Makers. As I listened it made me think about what porn consumers expect from pornographers, porn performers and porn websites. Are truth and trust important to porn consumers? Do these values matter less if they aren’t paying for their porn? When it comes to porn, does the dichotomy between fantasy and reality affect our appreciation of truth and trust? Let’s explore this in the next couple of entries! For the non-Canadians reading, Peter Mansbridge is an award winning journalist. He is best known for his five decades of work at the CBC where he was Chief Correspondent of CBC News and anchor of The National for thirty years.
