just a dump from this shoot, because this bodysuit is so pretty. anyway, let’s talk shoplifting. within the leftist community, many of us believe that it’s far more ethical to refuse to pay chains, which monetize and profit off of basic human needs, than it is to support them financially. as with everything, risk assessment is important: how likely are you to be caught? if you’re caught, how likely are you to be punished? overall, white cis women (who appear to be housed) have an advantage; due to patriarchal standards and white privilege, we are seen as innocent and maternal. white, non working class men are societally viewed as upholders of oppressive institutions, especially capitalism. even if you can afford to pay for goods, refusing to do so is first and foremost, a privilege. this privilege should unequivocally be used to keep other comrades safe; i.e., stealing necessities such as hygiene items or snacks for unhoused or financially insecure people. this is a way to both resist the corruption inherent to capitalism, and to provide for those who do not have the luxury of being trusted by the system. be on the lookout for a post with more concrete info 😉
