Added 2021-06-18 20:17:20 +0000 UTClet’s talk juneteenth. by now, i’m assuming y’all know what it stands for. if not, stop reading, google it, and come back. got it? k let’s go. it is, yes, incredibly important to acknowledge and celebrate the end of slavery in the country. in absolutely no way is that in question. howEVER, this became a federal holiday simultaneously with the prohibition of teaching critical race theory, continuance of increased police funding, and sending billions of dollars in weapons to an oppressive genocidal regime in israel. remember when cities painted the street to say black lives matter, but they kept gassing and shooting protesters, funding the prison industrial complex, and committing state-sanctioned murders of black people? this is the same thing as the pelosi’s goddamn kente cloth. hold people accountable. this is why we say burn it down; the ruling class exists to perpetuate its own power and symbolically placates the working classes in order to do so. last point— this federal holiday does nothing for people outside of white collar, and maybe some blue collar, workers. other industries still function, so low income households, many of which are black, brown, and indigenous, don’t benefit from any time off to celebrate. also, i know y’all aren’t reading my captions, because most of you missed the snapchat freebie a few posts back 😈 fuck 45, fuck 46. acab ✊🏼
