Added 2024-09-23 13:18:22 +0000 UTCA couple months ago I had a day that started like any other day. I had a list of errands to run, and my first stop was the local construction store. My husband and I were repairing our kitchen, and I needed to pick up some supplies.
As I walked through the aisles, I noticed a younng man with a muscular build stacking roofing materials. He had a confident air about him, and I couldn’t help but steal a few glances. His name tag read “Jake.”
I approached him, pretending to be interested in the roofing supplies. “Excuse me, could you help me find the right shingles for my roof?” I asked, flashing a friendly smile.
Jake turned to me, his eyes brightening. “Of course, ma’am. What kind of roof do you have?”
We chatted for a few minutes about the different types of shingles, and I found myself enjoying the conversation more than I expected. Jake was charming and knowledgeable, and I felt a spark of excitement that I hadn’t felt in a long time.
As he handed me a sample, I decided to take a chance. “You know, it’s such a beautiful day outside. Do you ever take a break and enjoy the sunshine?”
Jake smiled, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. “I try to, whenever I can.”
“Well,” I said, feeling a bit bolder, “I was thinking of having a picnic at the park during lunch. It would be nice to have some company. What do you say?”
Jake looked surprised but pleased. “That sounds great. I’d love to join you.”
We exchanged numbers and agreed to m33t at the park at noon. As I walked out of the store, I couldn’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation. It had been a long time since I had done something so spontaneous, and I was looking forward to our picnic.
