I have seen my share of old-timers and they all have the same issue. Electric is neglected, completely disastrous and often very dangerous. People would put new wheels, new paint and leave old wiring as it was and patch problem with hardware store fixes. Reason? Most mechanics are scared or unaware how all this works. Or do simply do not bother. I actually enjoy it so when I can get some old gem cheaper because everyone else gives up on it, I am happy. Fun part on my BlackHog is that if there would not be electric power steering, there would be just 3 wires to make the car work 🤣. So let's replace it all. And as you can see BJ40 is 24V car so it makes the whole job a bit more complicated, but I love challenges and it sure will be better than new. Proper modern fuses, over dimensioned wiring, major connections soldered and of course relays for everything instead of power switches. At the same time I will also install the window washer (which is missing) and delete the heater (which is pointless).
