I have about 30 messages I still need to respond to. Things have been even crazier than usual this week. I think I shared a couple of tweets referencing it, but my mom is in the hospital. She’s been doing well, and then not so well again.
Before this last week we had also been estranged for the past 2years (maybe I’ll tell you about that another day - it’s a long story). Her nurse called me, begging me to go to the hospital; I thought she was dying so I decided to go and try to mend the relationship. She looked awful on a bi-pap machine (she has breast cancer as well as advanced COPD)…
I visited again the next day and she looked far better, which is good. This is where it gets interesting. Her respiratory nurse pulled me aside and warned me; she said, “You were estranged for a reason. Your Mom is manipulating you and this situation…” She went on to tell me that my mother didn’t really need a palliative care team - but begged for one so that she could try and reach out to me.
For now, I’m still visiting and playing good daughter, but I feel awful inside. I don’t know what the future holds either. I suppose we’ll see. I doubt I’ll ever get a real resolution to what estranged us. Should I even bother bringing it up if it won’t resolve anything anyway?
Well, that was my very long winded explanation for why I’m backed up on messages. Please know that I appreciate you all so much. Send some positive vibes my way and we’ll have some fun tonight to shake off all this negativity. Love you all 💋, Mommy.
