This purple plant I’m holding is called a Hawaiian Ti Leaf. The purple is my favorite variety and the one I have growing in my garden. It’s one of the first plants brought to Hawaii by the Polynesians, aka a “canoe plant” because it was brought over in the first canoes. It’s known to help ward off evil spirits and was even used by high priests in ancient ceremonial rituals. Sometimes people in Hawaii tie them to their cars or wear them for positive energy and spiritual protection. You can use them to wrap up food when cooking too.
